The Manly Art Gallery and Museum is only a four minute walk from Manly Wharf. Opened in 1930 by Manly Council, it was the first metropolitan regional gallery in New South Wales. The gallery has become a popular destination for thousands of local, interstate and international visitors.
The gallery is a hub of community activity, as they present workshops, recitals and performances.
The museum is dedicated to preserving Manly's unique history as one of Australia's most loved beach resorts. Opened in 1982, it focuses on the history of Manly and the Northern Beaches. The particular emphasis is on beach culture in the 20th century. Their collection includes examples of swimwear, Hawaiian shirts, sunglasses, hats, towels, beachbags and longboards.
