Fort Denison is a heritage fort on a Sydney Harbour island, once called Pinchgut. This former military site is the most complete Martello Tower in the world and a popular Sydney attraction. Fort Denison is currently closed for maintenance and conservation works. It's expected to reopen in late 2022.
A former defence facility, Fort Denison is located on a small harbour island in the centre of Sydney Harbour just a stone's throw from the Botanic Gardens. Once under attack from US friendly fire in WWII, Fort Denison is today a top Sydney tourist attraction.
One of the most coveted places in Sydney for New Years Eve, the 360° views are sure to impress. Take the guided tour to explore Fort Denison’s museum, canons gun powder store and winding staircase in Australia’s only Martello Tower. Discover the fully operational tide guage room where Sydneys tidal benchmark is recorded. When you are done exploring, the café is a great place for a quick snack or tasty lunch and is also available for private evening functions.
