Esplanade Reserve is a large parkland area, identified by tall Norfolk Pines, in the centre of Fremantle between Fishing Boat Harbour, the West End precinct and the Cappuccino Strip.
You’ll also find Esplanade Youth Plaza, the Carriage Café, Tourist Wheel Fremantle, a playground area with swings and a large climbing frame.
The parkland is a popular place for families and visitors to relax in the sunshine, enjoy a picnic or take the kids to the playground. It’s been a place for community events, festivals, concerts and families since the early twentieth century when the land was reclaimed from the sea. The original foreshore line can be seen on Marine Terrace.
A converted railway carriage, built at the Midland Railway Workshops in 1912 was relocated to the Esplanade in the 1970s to become the Carriage Café coffee shop.
Esplanade Reserve is a short walk from Fremantle bus and train station and the free blue circuit CAT bus stops alongside the park.
