Melbourne's Federal Coffee Palace has been reborn as Federal Coffee. Located under the archways of the historic GPO building, the 15-year-old coffee stop has expanded its offering to an upmarket brunch menu, with coffee in the mornings and cocktails in the afternoons. The all-day brunch menu focuses on Melbourne favourites with a French twist. Think smashed avocado with comté cheese, eggs benedict atop pork terrine, or triple-cooked French toast with lavender crème Anglaise. More classical French dishes are also available, including duck cassoulet with lentils, confit duck and pork sausage, and eggs en cocotte. After something lighter to pair with your coffee or champagne? A selection of French pastries is available from Tivoli Road Bakery. Products from local suppliers include bottled cocktails from the award-winning Everleigh and coffee from Melbourne's Industry Beans.
