York Town Hall was built in 1911 and is a significant part of York’s townscape. It is a fine example of Edwardian opulence, with its elaborate corner entry, feature clock, extensive use of columns, ornate facade and significant fanlight over the main entrance. A comprehensive restoration project has returned the hall to its original splendour.
It is well worth a visit to appreciate the creative design excellence in the Federation Free Classical style. With the Tourist Bureau offices located on the ground floor it is a good starting spot for your walking tour of historical York.
When completed in 1911 the Town Hall boasted the largest floor area of any such building in Western Australia.
Located on Avon Terrace in York, it is a one hour drive east of Perth. With its rich heritage and range of interesting historic buildings, York will appeal to all history enthusiasts.
