Great River Walk Penrith

Over the past five years Penrith City Council has created almost eight kilometres of walking track along the Nepean River. Known as the "Great River Walk", it features spectacular views of the beautiful river set against the backdrop of the Blue Mountains. The walk features resting points and lookouts where you can see bird and other wildlife in a natural setting. There are even places to enjoy a coffee and something to eat. Most of the track is part of a six kilometre loop that follows the riverbank on both the Penrith and Emu Plains sides of the river, incorporating the Yandhai Nepean Crossing. The walk is accessible from both Penrith and Emu Plains Railway Stations. There is a grand vision to develop The "Great River Walk" to link the river's headwaters at Lake Bathurst near Goulburn with the mouth of the river at Broken Bay, a distance of 570 kilometres.
