Richmond is located at the foot of the Blue Mountains and can be reached easily by car or train. The town is approximately 62 kilometres north-west of the Sydney CBD and is one of the Hawkesbury's five towns that Governor Lachlan Macquarie established in 1810. The historic charm of Richmond can be fully explored on a self-guided heritage walk of the town. In 1811 the township, streets and market square were surveyed by James Meehan. Enjoy a picnic in the beautiful park, or a take in a movie at the Regent Theatre which first opened in 1935. You can pick up your free Heritage Highlights booklet from either the Hawkesbury Regional Museum in Baker Street Windsor or from the Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre on Hawkesbury Valley Way, Richmond.
