Heaton State Forest, part of the Watagan Mountains, is a beautiful forest encompassing spectacular lookouts that showcase views over the Hunter Valley and Lake Macquarie regions. McLean, Hunter and Heaton lookouts offer outstanding coastal and mountain views. Watagan HQ camping area, an old forest worker campsite, is also available for picnics. And of course - being State Forest - you can bring your dog. And don't forget - your visit is free!
