Fresh, nutritious food and specialty coffee in charming surrounds are the promise of Oikos, one of Ipswich’s newest cafes.
The name comes from an ancient Greek word meaning circle of influence and it fits well with the welcoming vibe Brett and Christie Briggs have created here.
Call in for coffee made on Queensland-roasted Kai Coffee beans, and fresh nutritious fare such as fruit-laden acai bowls and smoothies and colourful nachos bowls. Winter soup offerings include a bacon, broccoli and walnut version served with cheesy garlic bread. Raw slices and other sweet treats made in-house line the shelves of the cabinet.
And stay tuned for ‘secret shows’ at Oikos. Brett and Christie are live music lovers and run monthly music nights with share-plate grazing dinner and "bring your own" at the café. These nights are flagged on Facebook and with only 23 tickets available each time, they’re generally sold out pretty quickly.
Oikos is centrally located in the heritage city in the site formerly occupied by Beans and Greens Café – very handy to the Ipswich Art Gallery if you want to make a proper outing of it and is open 7am to 3pm weekdays and 7am to 2pm on Saturdays.
