If you’ve worked up a huge appetite while in Ipswich, you’ll have it more than satisfied at Heisenberg Haus, a family-owned German Restaurant in the Top of Town precinct. Hearty German and Australian meals abound here as well as at their sibling café next door, Tighty Whities. Heisenberg Haus – which celebrates Ipswich’s German roots and takes its name from the hit television show, “Breaking Bad” - boasts a large and airy space with exposed heritage brick walls and courtyard dining out the back with big bench tables. Pride of place is the bar where you can take your pick from German beers such as Paulaner, Franziskaner, Spaten, Stiegl, Löwenbräu and more. There are also cocktails, wines, spirits and of course schnapps. As for the food, all your German favourites are there. Main courses include Cheesey Spätzle with Fried Onion, Wurst Sample, and the famous Pork Knuckle with Potato Dumpling, Pork Gravy and Sauerkraut – if you can finish the dish, your photo goes up on a special wall! Kids will love the Frankie (Frankfurter) or Kids Schnitzel with Chips, and it wouldn’t be German without an Apple Strudel for dessert. Heisenberg are well known for their annual Oktoberfest celebrations. Due to current health advice on social distancing, please contact the business for the most up to date information regarding opening times and services.
