Essence Productions is an independent theatre company specialising in bringing Australia's unique historical stories to life through live performance. A team of actors perform each weekend at Werribee Park Mansion and farm in a promenade theatre style play, bringing the squatting Chirnside history to life. Running each weekend since 2003 and seen by over 15,000 people, these plays involve professional actors in character who take an audience through either the magnificent Werribee Park Mansion (‘What Was that?’) or the old farm buildings at Werribee Park (‘Down to Earth’). The plays combine history, comedy and scary elements and the story unfolds as they move to different locations. Alaine Beek, founder of the company, writes, produces and performs in the plays. Recently, she wrote the award winning 'Point of No Return', which centres around a group of boys in the Point Puer boys prison in Tasmania. A thrilling drama now published on the Australian Plays website. The play toured Victoria 2018 and heads off to NSW for another tour July 2019. Essence Productions is located within the City of Wyndham, 45 minutes from the centre of Melbourne. For bookings or for more information, visit the website.
