Address
Treloar Crescent, Campbell, Australian Capital Territory, Australia
Opening Hours
Information not available
Commencing at approximately 4.45 pm AEDT, the Memorial farewells visitors with its moving Last Post Ceremony in the Commemorative Courtyard. The ceremony begins with the Australian national anthem followed by the piper's lament. Visitors are invited to lay wreaths and floral tributes beside the Pool of Reflection. Each night the ceremony shares the story behind one of the names on the Roll of Honour, and the Ode is recited by Australian Defence Force personnel. The ceremony ends with the sounding of the Last Post. From February to November the Last Post Ceremony includes Australia's Federation Guard (on the first and third Wednesday of each month). Due to the need to contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), visitors to the Australian War Memorial need to book free, timed tickets to attend the daily Last Post Ceremony. This is a 1 hour ticket from 4.20pm and includes access to the Roll of Honour and Hall of Memory. We encourage you to register a ticket in advance. Tickets may be made available at the Memorial entry, subject to capacity. The Australian War Memorial is pleased to be Trip Advisor’s number one attraction in Canberra.
