Most vines at Sandalford’s Margaret River location date back to its original 1970 planting. The Margaret River Estate has been likened to Bordeaux with a generous winter rainfall, frost free spring, subdued summer temperatures and well drained red brown loamy soils which provide ideal growing conditions for international wine styles. In the Margaret River district of Wilyabrup, 260 kilometres south west of Perth, Sandalford has 92 hectares of undulating land and soils that rank with the area’s best vineyards which are famed for Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Margaret River estate is a charming rustic rammed earth cellar, set in a beautiful country garden surrounded by deep vines and southwest bushland with a barbecue and picnic area.
