An evolution of wine with a unique reflection of the land. With the wisdom of three generations McHenry Hohnen's focus is on single vineyard wines, biological viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking.
They aim to manage their vineyards sustainability using a range of practices that are not only ecologically sound, but also economically viable and socially responsible.
McHenry Hohnen's vineyards are managed using 100 per cent biodynamic methods which are designed to improve the vitality and health of the soil.
Biodynamic is similar to organic farming in that both take place without chemicals, but biodynamic farming incorporates ideas about a vineyard as an ecosystem, and also takes into account astrological influences and lunar cycles.
McHenry Hohnen's vineyard manager Mike Sleegers is an experienced advocate of biodynamic farming and believes it's the only way to grow the best quality grapes.
Their cellar door on Caves Road, is just minutes from Margaret River.
A visit to their cellar door is an opportunity to pick up more than just a haul of wine, with the Farm House's celebrated smoked and cured meats, all from free-range, grass-fed livestock.
