An ultra-boutique producer known for its wines of provenance that can be tasted with the charismatic owners at their authentic cellar door, home to some impressive cricket memorabilia! This ultra-boutique, single-vineyard winery was established in 1995 by George and Mary Heydon. The vineyard, comprising Chardonnay, Semillon, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot was planted on idyllic land in Wilyabrup in 1988 and is managed primarily with biodynamic, organic and traditional viticulture principles. The Wines The boutique winery makes just 2,000 dozen wines each vintage, focused on Margaret Rivers hero varieties. The emphasis is on expressing their wines single estate origin and employs minimal intervention winemaking techniques. The highly-regarded wine collection is made by long-term Margaret River winemaker Mark Messenger, also known for his work at Juniper Estate, and historically at Cape Mentelle. Among numerous major accolades, Heydon Estate received the Wine of Provenance Award at the Margaret River Wine Show in 2017 for its Cabernet Sauvignon. Wine Tasting Hands-on and enthusiastic owner, Irish-born Mary Heydon personally hosts guests at the authentic and welcoming cellar door, located just 15 minutes north of Margaret River town.
