A contemporary makeover at Ipswich’s heritage Technical College gave the city a beautiful restaurant in Dovetails and a fab sister restaurant to Pumpyard Bar and Brewery – the home of 4Hearts Brewing.
Another neighbour at this precinct, known as 88 Limestone, is Ungermann Brothers Icecream Parlour.
Here at Dovetails, it all about relaxed dining in an elegant setting with a menu of modern classics to satisfy breakfast, lunch and dinner crowds.
You can take a table inside or out on the deck presided over by a magnificent old Poinciana tree. A pleasant wine list completes the offering.
The old brick walls and windows provide a beautiful backdrop and there’s some clever detailing at play, such as the names of former teachers and students, taken from early Technical College enrolments, etched into timber feature panels and stylised engineers’ tools creating a patterned print on the ceiling.
Upstairs, above Dovetails, is a charming event space known as the Lord Lamington Function Suite.
